Vocalist and 2nd Tenor Saxophone
Vicky started playing the clarinet and piano in 1985. She decided to take up the saxophone in 1986 after hearing the solo on Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street'. At the time, Vicky was being taught and mentored by Des Dickens (who had played Saxophone with the original Glenn Millar Band during the second World War), and had been running a school of music and dance for many years. She was invited to play Baritone, Alto and Tenor Saxophone, as well as clarinet, in the Des Dickens Big Band. She has also played with other local big bands including the Alfreton Big Band.
Vicky has been playing with the Beeston Big Band for over 15 years and began singing with the band over 4 years ago.
She is a member of a local barbershop chorus who have won the UK championships 5 times and, in 2015, travelled with them to Las Vegas to compete in the Sweet Adelines International Competition.
Her latest venture is to sing with Bill Spencer on drums, Mark Attwood on piano and a bass player (tbc).
