Former Musical Director and Lead Trombone
Martin first started playing trombone in Norfolk in the early 1980's. Although primarily self-taught he was inspired by several peripatetic music teachers that visited his school, notably Barry Mason, Bob Munn & his school music teacher Valerie Medler.
As a teenager Martin played in local brass bands, orchestras & ensembles until he discovered his musical nirvana, the Big Band whilst playing for the fabulous Generation Big Band!
Unfortunately work then got in the way & he didn't play for a number of years until, whilst working on UN sanctions in southern Hungary, he became great friends with Ron Wissink, a brilliant Dutch jazz guitarist, who encouraged Martin to play regularly again. Since then Martin has played for Dave Derham & Chris Walls in Norwich, and has now retired
